Carlos Caetano Cabral

1935-2024

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Carlos Caetano Cabral (89) on December 10, 2024, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Carlos was born on November 4, 1935, in Agualva, on the Azorean Island of Terceira, Portugal. He was the cherished husband of Maria Fatima Cabral (deceased) and the beloved son of Maria Madalena and Manuel Caetano Cabral. Carlos was one of ten siblings and the proud father of six children – Carlos, Francisco, Isilda, Paul, Roger, and Telma. He was adored by his 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Carlos worked as a shoemaker in Portugal for 18 years, where he was respected and well-known for his craft. After immigrating to Canada with his wife and children in 1974, he continued his hard work in a steel factory for the rest of his career.

Carlos found joy in playing cards, dancing, music, and cheering for his favorite soccer team, Benfica, of which he was a lifelong supporter. But most importantly, he loved the Lord and remained faithful to his beliefs throughout his life. His faith brought him immense peace in his final days, knowing he would be reunited with his wife and be with his Lord and Saviour.

Above all, Carlos loved his family deeply. He sacrificed and worked tirelessly to provide a better life for his children and future generations in Canada. He instilled the value of hard work and faith in his children and exemplified respect in every aspect of his life.

Carlos leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with family and friends all over the world. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Carlos’s life will take place on Monday, December 16, from 6 pm – 9 pm at St. John’s Dixie Cemetery located at 737 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, ON. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, from 10 am – 11 am, with burial to follow.

In honor of Carlos, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Peel Region, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in his memory.
