FEKETE, Catherine

CATHERINE FEKETE
NOVEMBER 25th, 1963 TO MARCH 18th, 2018

It is with great sadness we share the unexpected passing of Catherine Fekete (Cathi Black). Suddenly and peacefully on March 18th, 2018, Cathi left the physical world to join her father and become an Angel. Beloved daughter of Catherine and the late Laszlo, sister of Adrianne, sister in law of Matt, aunt of Noah, Nico, Hunter and Mateo. Cathi also leaves behind extended family, many lifelong friends(Betty and Jerry) and close  colleagues. Cathi had a heart of gold, a contagious laugh, a free spirt and a beautiful soul.  Her passing will leave a large void in every life she touched.  The universe must have needed a very special Angel. We love you babe… we will never forget you. On Saturday March 31st, 2018 visitation will held at St. John Chapel located at 737 Dundas Street Mississauga, Ontario L4Y 2B5, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, followed by a service from 2:00pm to 3:00pm.

For no real reason at all, other than the fact that roads diverge in this life sometimes, I had lost touch with Cathi. It was my fault more than hers, as she had always reached out often at a time when I spent a few years politely declining invitations of all kinds, including hers.I had texted her recently about a song and band she turned me on to years ago and heard nothing back. Today I tried emailing her and my email bounced back which is when I found out her passing, nearly a year later. I am shocked and saddened. Unexpected deaths are more tragic still when they befall someone so full of life, love, and happiness, with such an outsized talent for friendship.

Cathi was a rare human being, with such a sense of fun, and a willingness to always be inclusive. She threw many parties and regularly introduced her army of friends to each other, selflessly widening the circle of friendship. In the time I knew her, she had many, many homes in LA and many different cars. We often laughed about those things. But no matter where she lived, Cathi always had a talent for making her houses into homes – warm, inviting, filled with her beautiful dogs. and her touches of elegance. We had so many laughs it’s impossible to remember them all. Wish I had a highlight reel of all our fun: “epic,” is what the kids say.

In spite of how late this is, my condolences to her family and friends in this time of leaving and farewell. Someone once said, you can measure how rich someone was by how well lived their life, by the love they inspired in others, and the people who mourn their passing. By that standard, Cathi was a billionaire. Farewell, lovely one.

Thank you for sharing. She was a client and I loved her and I didn’t know until this month when another client told me. I’m shocked and saddened. Blessings to the family and thanks for the laughs and the love.
